Is there anybody out there who can explain how former President Charles
G.Taylor of Liberia can "boycott" his own trial?

Slowing things down by firing his attorney I can understand.
Criminal defendants do that, if not all that often.

But in what kind of court system can any defendant who being held in jail
just decide he doesn't want to go trial on any given day?
