What makes your favorite TV show your favorite ?
Just what is it that makes your favorite of favorites ?
Is it because of any or all of the following criteria ?

1.Explicit Sex
2.Graphic Violence
3.Mindless Profanity
4,Convoluted as it is Preposterous
5.Dysfunctional Characters
6.Rampant Debauchery
7.Always Physically Dark
8.Undeniably Cynical and Pessimistic
9.No Sense of Humor
10.Devoid of any kind of Hope

1.. It should be done with an animation format. Live action is for reality... not to be limited to The Naked News.
2.. While explicit sex is nice as a change of pace, some gratuitous nudity thrown in is more than sufficient
3.. Mindless profanity does not improve the program unless it's a child under the age of 10 telling someone in authority or anyone else for that matter to go get fucked.
4.. I choose not to watch programmes that are convoluted and or preposterous. The president will have to find his audiance elsewhere.
5.. Dysfunctional characters: see #4
6.. Rampant Debauchery should not be limited to the game show network, and would actually make a great program that would swiftly outdo such network fare as Deal or No Deal, Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader, and American Idol. It could be added in a new catagory on America's got talent.
I believe this explains something about the programmes I prefer.

#5: Dysfunctional Characters.

a.. Fish: the elderly guy that spends half the shift in the bathroom
b.. Harris: the writer that looked forward to leaving the precinct... only to have any of his royalties go out the window because he was sued
c.. Wojo: could be a standing Polack joke, but instead, is the idealistic cop: sometimes a little too energetic, but deep down.... a little bit too energetic
d.. Deitrich: Insecure in his own intellegence.
e.. Yemana: Shows how a man can rise to his level of incompetence by being the official coffee maker... and the maker of the world's worst coffee.
f.. Leavitt: the little guy that wants to run with the big dogs.
g.. Lugar: Loud-mouthed inspector. Ya don't know if he's an honest cop or not by the way he talks. Longs for the day of the back room and the rubber hose.
h.. Chano: Hispanic officer. Left too soon to fully develop any dysfunctions other than speaking Spanish when excited.

Hmm...so Barney's the only normal one. No wonder his eyes always look like
they're popping out of his head.
Anyhow, my favorite show of all time.
(Except for the sex, which takes place privately, certain Major League
Baseball broadcasts could qualify for "all of the above", at least until
they went and installed lights at Wrigley Field.)
